A Birds Eye View of the End Times
All throughout the Gospel of Luke, we see a regular discussion of the
Kingdom of God.
• You will remember that when the Angel Gabriel appears to Mary - he proclaimed that
the son she was to bear, would, …be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.
And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign
over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
• When John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness, as the last of the Old
Testament Prophets, he declared, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
• As Jesus preached, he made frequent references to the Kingdom of God and
illustrated what the Kingdom was like in numerous parables.
Our generation tends to emphasize one’s personal relationship with Jesus as a Friend,
while scripture tends to emphasize our corporate fidelity to Jesus as King.
That is why you see, after the narratives of the Gospels and Acts, letters addressed
primarily to congregations as a whole, and only a few directed at individuals.
